Product Description Used for centuries in spiritual rituals, natural remedies, and beauty practices, Frankincense Serrata remains one of the most cherished essential oils in aromatherapy. Its resinous, peppery scent with earthy, woody undertones creates a grounding, meditative atmosphere, making it perfect for moments of reflection or relaxation.Frankincense Serrata also supports overall wellness and skin health. Diffuse to encourage clear breathing and a calm state of mind, or add a few drops to facial serums to help improve skin’s elasticity and tone. When properly diluted, it can be massaged into areas of tension to help ease tired muscles and joints, making it a versatile essential for both relaxation and rejuvenation.

Which to use Frankincense Carterii or Serrata?

Neither is definitively "better"; the choice between Boswellia serrata and carterii depends on the desired aroma and specific benefits. Serrata is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, particularly for joints and muscles, and has a spicier, more herbaceous scent. Carterii is often used in aromatherapy for its calming effects, has a softer, more citrusy-balsamic aroma, and is a popular choice for skincare and perfumery.
Boswellia serrata
    • Aroma: Lighter, spicier, and more herbaceous than carterii.
    • Primary Benefits: Anti-inflammatory, particularly effective for joint and muscle pain (arthritis). Also used for menstrual pain relief.
    • Common Uses: Blending with other oils for therapeutic benefits, especially those related to inflammation.
    • Cost: Often more cost-effective due to higher resin yields.
Boswellia carterii
    • Aroma: Softer, more balanced, and with a slightly citrusy-balsamic scent.
    • Primary Benefits: Calming, stress-relieving, and good for skin health.
    • Common Uses: Aromatherapy, meditation, skincare products (lotions, facial oils), and perfumery. It is also used for respiratory support.
    • Availability: Considered the most studied and best-known frankincense in the West.
Which should you choose?
    • For joint and muscle pain relief:

Choose serrata due to its high levels of boswellic acids and other anti-inflammatory compounds.
    • For emotional and aromatic support:

Choose carterii for its gentle aroma that is ideal for meditation, relaxation, and creating a calming atmosphere.
    • For skin applications:

Both have skin benefits, but carterii is frequently used in cosmetic formulations due to its milder scent and compatibility with other ingredients.
    • Carterii

For perfumery: is a popular choice for its rounded, clean scent, while serrata offers a spicier, more complex note.
